Richard “Big Red” Lee Weller, 78, of Delavan, formerly of Beloit died July 1, 2014, at Beloit Memorial Hospital in Beloit.
He was born Jan. 13, 1936, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Earl and Vera (Boyer) Weller. He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1957 and then in the Reserves from 1957 to 1962. In 1968, he married the former Sandra Withrow in Decorah, Iowa.
He was employed for more than 20 years at the Chrysler Assembly Plant in Belvidere, Ill., retiring in 1992. He also owned and operated Cross Road Bar in Beloit.
He is survived by one daughter Rhonda (Steve) Deschner; two sons Ryan (Debbie) Weller and Ronald Kaye; and grandchildren Brantly Deschner, Brock Deschner, Brian Deschner and David Weller.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Weller.
