Donald J. Martens, 83, of Palmyra, died on July 18, 2014, at Fairhaven in Whitewater. He was born on June 21, 1931, to the late John and Leona Martens.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, and was very proud and dedicated to his service. He was a member of the Palmyra Methodist Church, the American Legion Thomas Holcomb Post 304 and the Palmyra Masonic Lodge 68.
He served on the Palmyra Volunteer Fire Department and enjoyed driving school bus during his retirement.
Survivors include his children, Robin and Kim (Mark) Murn; daughter-in-law, Lynn (spouse of Jeff); grandchildren, Matthew (Andie), Jacob (Shaina), Michael (Tanya), Alex, Haley, Courtney, Emily, and Allison; sisters, Glenice (Vincent) Rychlewski and Frances (Roger) Tuttle. He is further survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia; son, Jeff; brothers, Dale, Marvin and Arthur; sisters, Evelyn, Inez, Geraldine and Helen.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday July 25, at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Homes 320 W. Main St., Palmyra. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. The Rev. Steven Blyth will officiate.
Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery of Palmyra.
