Belle D. Cory, 95, of Windom, Minn., died Wednesday April 30, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home in Windom. She was born Sept. 8, 1918, in Elkhorn, the daughter of the late Leo and Dorothy Dunlap.
She served as a nurse anesthetist in the Army Nurse Corp during World War II holding the rank of Captain. In 1946 she married John E. Cory and they lived in Elkhorn until 1978 when they moved to Black River Falls. John died in November of 2003. In the fall of 2005 she moved to Windom.
She is survived by one sister, Geraldine Welch (Wayne) of Grand Rapids, Minn.; two sons, John (Linda) Cory of Bayfield, Wisconsin and David (Judith) Cory of Windom, 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was further preceded in death by her daughter Celia, grandson John Owen, brothers Albert and Charles (Chuck), and sister Lucile.
A private family burial service will be held at a later date in Elkhorn.
