ALICE F. BROWNLEE

Alice Florence Brownlee (nee Kilpin), 100, died March 18, 2014, at Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Burlington. She was born on June 9, 1913, in Northampton, England, to the late Sophia and Arthur Kilpin.

The family immigrated to the United States in 1914 and settled in the East Troy area.

She attended and graduated from East Troy schools.

She married Edwin “Ted” Brownlee on May 22, 1950, at the Methodist Church in LaGrange. He preceded her in death in 1987.

They resided for many years on the family farm on Highway 20, in Troy Center. In 1959 they moved to Hayward but were fortunate to spend their winters in Lady Lake, Fla. They later sold both homes and relocated to Bayfield.

She loved spending holidays with family, shopping and out to lunch with nieces, trips to the casino, gardening, feeding the birds, watching the Green Bay Packers and fishing.

She lived independently with her beloved cat, “Kitters” until her late 1990s, when she moved to Burlington.

Survivors include her nieces, Marilyn Kilpin Fuerstenberg, Dorothy Kilpin Stanke Shaver, Cindy Kilpin, Kay Kilpin Polaski and Susan Kilpin; nephews, Richard Kilpin, Donald Kilpin, Rusty Kilpin, Bob Healey, James Healey II and Joseph Healey; special grand-nephew, Tom Healey; and many grand nieces and nephews.

She was further preceded in death by her brothers, a sister, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and nieces.

Inurnment will be in Adams Cemetery at a later date. As per her wishes, there was no service.

Legacy Funeral Home, East Troy, assisted the family.
