Delbert ‘Del’ Lee Dallman, 87, of Delavan, formerly of Edgerton, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at the Willowfield Nursing Home and Rehab, Delavan. He was born Feb. 3, 1927, in Edgerton, the eldest of nine children, son of the late Emil and Grace (Spitzer) Dallman.
He was united in marriage to Marian Stewart, on Feb. 11, 1950, in Edgerton. She preceded him in death on March 23, 2006. Del then married Betty (Anderson) Haman, on June 28, 2008, at St. Andrews Parish, Delavan.
Del joined the Navy upon graduating High School, were he earned the rank of Carpenters Mate 3; he then joined the National Guard. Del worked at General Motors for 34 years, until his retirement.
He enjoyed golfing, collecting stamps, gardening, watching birds, wildlife, the Packers and Badgers, and was a history buff and avid reader. He loved to watch his favorite NASCAR drivers, car # 24, Jeff Gordon and car # 20, Matt Kenseth, and pro golfer, Steve Stricker.
He was a member of the Edgerton American Legion, Post # 30, the Milton VFW Post # 9403, and the Cooties and was the past commander of the Edgerton VFW post 2708. He served as the 5th district commander for the State of Wisconsin, past president of the Edgerton Library Board, where he and Marian were very active, and served on the Elm Drive Apartments Board and Tobacco Days committees.
He is survived by his loving wife of five years, Betty Dallman of Delavan; one daughter, Deborah (Melvin) Lein of Wonder Lake, Ill.; two grandchildren, Wendy (Andre) Pistach, and Adam Lein; one great-granddaughter, Emma; three step-daughters, Sandra Wheeler of Delavan, Cheryl (Mike) Masonneuve of Sharon, and Karen Haman of Delavan; one step-grandson, Tom (Char) Wighman of Delavan; two sisters, Ruth (Mike) Miles and Edna Dawson, both of Janesville; two brothers, Harold (Ruth Ann) Dallman, of Indian Ford, and Dwight (Rosi) Dallman, of Arizona; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends. He was further preceded in death by one son, Stewart; two sisters, Helen and Dorothy; and two brothers, Emil and Howard.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at noon, on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Edgerton, with Father David Timmerman officiating. Burial was in the Parish Cemetery. Friends were invited to call on Tuesday, March 18, at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Full Military services were held at the cemetery, by the Edgerton Memorial Squad.
