Ronald “Ron” J. Hohlfelder, 87, of Elkhorn, died Feb. 2, 2014, at Holton Manor Nursing Home Elkhorn. He was born Aug. 23, 1926, in Glencoe, Ill., the son of the late William F. and Dora P. (Wenkel) Hohlfelder.

Ron was a WWII veteran serving with the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946. He was married for 25 years to Rosemary Willen and then later was married to JoAnn Anderson.

Ron worked for Hollister Press in Wilmette, Ill., for over 30 years. He was a member of Sugar Creek Lutheran Church. Ron was a loving and caring father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by family who include his three children, John (Patricia) Hohlfelder, of Elkhorn, James (Joanne) Hohlfelder, of Viroqua, and Judith (Steven) Jacobson, of Elkhorn; 11 grandchildren, Katherine (Jesse) Pertzborn, Karen (Ryan) Mundt, Kristine (Blane) Redmer, Jason (Dana) Hohlfelder, Jamie (Jared) Thiede, Jeni (Nicholas) Gronemus, Madalyn (Ryan Reichert) Jacobson, Rebecca (Jedadiah) Terpstra, Hannah (Lars Heggernes) Jacobson, Maren and Emma Jacobson; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marilynn (John) Adams of Grayslake, Ill.; and a host of other relatives and friends.    He was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen D. Hohlfelder, and a brother, William “Bud” Hohlfelder Jr.

Memorial service was Feb. 8 at Sugar Creek Lutheran Church N5690 Cobblestone Road, Elkhorn with the Rev. Jane Rothman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
