Betty Gorgas, 88, of Janesville, died Jan. 8, 2014, at St. Mary’s Janesville Hospital. She was born in Delavan on June 23, 1925, to Glen and LaVida (Blodgett) Cross.
She married Virgil “Chick” Gorgas in Brick Church Parsonage on Oct. 14, 1943, and he preceded her in death on June 17, 1997. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and a volunteer for R.S.V.P., Kennedy Elementary School and the Senior Meals Program.
She is survived by her two children, Virgil (Sharon Briggs) Gorgas, of Janesville and the Rev. Lori (Tom) Hlaban, of Pewaukee; honorary daughter, Jeanne Vaughn, of Janesville; six grandchildren, Tracy-Mark Gorgas, Mairi (Mark) Hanning, Heidi (Jason) Swinney, Michael (Becky Famularo) Hlaban, Maggie Hlaban and Roza Hlaban; and five great-grandchildren, Tyler and Trinity Hanning and Zondra, Quinton and Kira Sweeney. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Jan. 14 at Schneider and Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory with the Rev. Naomi Garber officiating. Visitation will from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Jan. 14 at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Roselawn Memory Gardens, Lake Geneva.
