SYLVIA M. MORAN

Sylvia M. Moran, 94, of Darien, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at her home. She was born May 28, 1919, in Lena, to the late Joseph and Selma (Daelle) Wondrash.

She married Joe Moran on May 30, 1959.

She worked at Borg Industries in the clock division and at several restaurants before buying her own restaurant in Darien, which was called Syl’s Diner, which she owned and managed for 21 years.

She sold it to her son, Tom, and worked for him for 15 years before he sold it and she went to work at the Traveler in Delavan.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 450 of Darien and a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Delavan. She liked to play bingo, play cards, and cooking and baking.

Survivors include her husband; children, Tom, Daniel (Chris) Scholl, Ronald Scholl, LaVan (Dave) Ethridge, and Patricia (Chuck) Nelson; 11 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was further preceded in death by two brothers, and daughter-in-law, Andrea Scholl.

Services were Oct. 1 at St. Andrew Catholic Church.

Visitation was prior to services Oct. 1 at the church.

Burial followed services in St. Andrew Cemetery.

Monroe Funeral Home, Delavan, assisted the family.
