Margaret Etta Neitzel, 96, formerly of Waupun, died on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at her East Troy residence, with family at her side.
Margaret was born on June 9, 1917 in Markesan, Wis., the daughter of Clarence and Bertha (Kluth) Whitehouse. She graduated from Markesan High School.
She was united in marriage to Clarence “Butch” Neitzel on June 2, 1940, at Pella Lutheran Church in Waupun. He preceded her in death in 1989.
Margaret was a devoted wife and cherished taking care of her family. She loved working in her kitchen and spoiling everyone with her good cooking.
Margaret enjoyed card playing with friends. She was a longtime member of Pella Lutheran Church where she was active in the Ladies Aid. Margaret lived independently until moving in with her daughter three years ago.
Her family was her priority and she loved spending time with her grand children and great- grandchildren.
Margaret is survived by her daughters, Barbara McGray, East Troy, and Lynnae (Jay) Sandstrom, Oshkosh; grandchildren, Lisa Ann (Mike) Hoppe, Laura Sue (Tim) Sawyer, Jay Spencer Sandstrom, and Cole Tyson (Shannon) Sandstrom; and great-grandchildren, Michael, Kayla, Lukas, Miranda, Taven, Amber, Colton, Savanna and Landon.
She was further preceded in death by her siblings, Butch (Erna) Whitehouse, Beatrice (Carl) Bruske, Evelyn (Bill) Laudon, Gordon (Lorraine) Whitehouse, Leonard (Lucille) Whitehouse, Juliana Whitehouse and her infant brother Lyle.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 16, at Pella Lutheran Church, 15 S. Madison St., Waupun, with Rev. Michael Stock officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
Margaret’s family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
