Verna Kosharek, age 93, of Milton passed away Friday, Aug. 9, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Nursing Home with her family by her side.
She was born on Oct. 29, 1919 the daughter of Joseph and Katherine (Vogel) Koch in Jefferson.
She married Francis H. Kosharek on May 19, 1945 at St. Lawrence Church, Jefferson. He preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 1984.
She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1937 and then worked at Cutler Hammer in Milwaukee for 5 years and also worked at A Jay Corp. in Delavan for 15 years.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Milton. Was “Mother of the Year, 2001.” She was a member of Christian Mothers of St. Mary’s, and the Women’s Legion Auxiliary in Whitewater, and the Milton FFA Alumni. She loved baking cookies and pies for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her seven children, Judy (Lee) McGuire, Nekoosa, Jim (Laurie) Kosharek, Whitewater, Jerry (Barb) Kosharek, Arkdale, John (Diane) Kosharek, Janesville, Janet (John) Miller, Colgate, JoAnn Palmer, Janesville, Jeff (Rhonda) Kosharek, Milton; 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends who were loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, one brother, Clarence Koch, three sisters, Ann Bowers, Marion Schiferl and Rose Gourlie.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, Aug. 15 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Milton. Father David Timmerman and Father James McEnery will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Milton.
Visitation times will be Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at Albrecht Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 828 S. Janesville St., Milton, and from 10 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the church.
A memorial is being established in Verna’s name.
