Ruth D. Behrens, 101, of Delavan, died Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Lakeland Health Care Center, Elkhorn. She was born Jan. 11, 1912, in Skokie, Ill., to the late Edward and Lizzie (Isermann) Wagner.
She married Arnold Behrens on Oct. 27, 1934. He preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 1974.
She was a resident of Des Plaines, Ill., until they moved to Delavan in 1968. She was a member of the United Church of Christ for 45 and was an active volunteer to RSVP for 25 years.
Survivors include her daughters, Arlene Calicchio, Arlington Heights, Ill., and Nancy (Richard) Powell, Gainesville, Va.; sons, Lloyd (Carol), Delavan, Don (Margie), Illinois, David (Peggy), Delavan, and Gene (Carolyn), Oklahoma; 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was further preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth; brothers, Robert and Edward; son, Roger; grandson, Michael; and granddaughter, Erica.
Visitation was July 10 at Monroe Funeral Home, Delavan. Funeral services were July 11 at the United Church of Christ, Delavan, with the Rev. Laura McLeod officiating. Interment followed at Ridgewood Cemetery in Des Plaines, Ill.
Memorials to the United Church of Christ are suggested.
