Richard G. Young, 80, of Sharon, died June 23, 2013, at Williams Bay Care Center after a long battle with cancer. He was the son of Fay and Eveline (Brunner) Young.
He was a 1951 graduate of Sharon High School and married Mary Ann Kitzman August 20, 1955, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Darien.
He served in the U.S. Army from June 10, 1953, until May 23, 1955, serving in Korea from Feb. 15, 1954 to April 29, 1955, in the Signal Corp. He farmed for more than 22 years and worked at Kikkoman in Walworth for 17 years.
He was a member of Triune Lutheran Church serving as an elder for six years.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Teresa (David) Hunt, Belvidere, Ill., and Michelle; son, Kevin (Marcie), Walworth; grandchildren, Joshua Hunt, Ryan, Alex, Kaleigh, and Danielle; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Bernice Block.
Services were June 26, at Triune Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dale Blanchard officiating. Burial followed at Oakwood Cemetery in Sharon.
