Homer W. Cary, 90, of Darien, died June 10, 2013, at Alden Meadow Park, Clinton. He was born Feb. 16, 1923, to the late Warren and Nettie (Larsen) Cary.
He married Felicia Gunn on Nov. 10, 1956. He was a farmer, who often could be found roaming the countryside checking the cut fields or socializing with friends at the local restaurant. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather and great-grandfather, who served his country in World War II. Homer’s three favorite things were his family, farming and friends.
Survivors include his wife; children, Felicia, Bay City, Mich., Patty (David) Rohr, Menomonee Falls, Mike (Tammy), Darien, Joe (Chris), Darien, Kathy (Bob) Shea, Janesville, Tom (Sarah), Sharon, and Barb (Jeff) Brink, Darien; grandchildren, Stacy, Justin, Alyssa, Matt, Chris, Danielle, Berisha, Keifer, Garett, Beau, Spencer, Miranda, Nick, Emma, Jake, and Josh; great-grandchild, Lilly; siblings, Marion Mohr, Orfordville, Mary Berland, Stockholm, and Judy Peters, Wabasha, Minn.
He was further preceded in death by his brothers, Bill, Harold “Bud,” Francis, and Paul; and sisters, Phyllis, Leah and Ardith.
Services were June 14 at Saint Stephens Catholic Church in Clinton, with the Rev. Bill Connell and Monseigneur James Gunn officiating. Visitation was held prior to the service on Friday at the church. Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Janesville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vets Roll Inc., or the Honor Flight Network.

I had the HONOR of accompanying Homer on the Honor Flight last November as I did a story on his journey along with his friends Gerry and Otto. It was one of the most humbling and inspiring moments of my life. I will treasure my time with him and the guys plus all the vets on the flight always.
