CARLA ANDERSON

Carla Anderson, 86, of La Grange, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2013, at the family home surrounded by her loving family.

Born on Sept. 15, 1926, in Hamburg, Germany to Hermann and Alma (Sandberg) Witthoft, she married George Anderson in November 1950 in Germany. He preceded her in death in May 1991.

Carla lived in Germany during World War II.  During that time she worked for two years on a farm and two years in a factory, which was required by the German government for the war effort. She also worked as a switchboard operator in Germany after the war.  She owned and operated a cleaning service in Lake Geneva for many years.

She loved to dance, play cards and was forever rescuing animals and nursing them back to health in the corner of her kitchen.

Carla and George were members of Walco Campers.  She enjoyed going to Ho-Chunk Casino. She loved to participate in activities at the Whitewater Senior Center and was very involved with 4-H when her children were young, especially the horse projects. She also participated with her children’s horse shows.

Surviving are one daughter, Charlotte Anderson (fiancé, David Maitlen) of Satellite Beach, Fla.; two sons, Edward (Sandy) Anderson of Darien and Curt Anderson (fiancée, Gina Crown) of La Grange; five granddaughters, Michelle Newton, Dr. Tiffany Beischel, Kelsey Berres and Brittney and Parker Anderson; one grandson, Thom Anderson; two stepgrandsons, Steve and Cole Williams; three great-grandsons, Sean Forlong, Dakota and Owen Williams; and four great-granddaughters, Jianna Newton, McKenna Williams, Zoey Berres and Cadence Bray.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, William Anderson, and one brother, Curt Witthoft.

Memorial services will be held at the Heart Prairie Lutheran Church, W8136 R and W Townline Road on Whitewater Lake at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 1, with the Rev. Steven R. Hanson officiating.

The Olsen Funeral Home in Whitewater is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers the family requested memorials be made to Aurora Visiting Nurse Association Hospice Program.

The family wishes to thank Carla’s son, Curt Anderson, for the dedication and selfless care he gave his mother in the last year of her life. Without him she would not have been able to remain in her home. We would also like to thank his fiancée, Gina Crown, for the help she gave Mother in the last months of her life.

Auf Wiedersehen doesn’t mean goodbye – it means, “until we meet again!”
