Marion D. “Dutch” Traxler, 99, of Fort Atkinson, passed away at his home on Sunday, May 26, 2013.
Dutch was born on Aug. 30, 1913 in Hammond, Ill., son of the late Melvin and Ruth (Gillespie) Traxler.
He married Regina Meske on April 14, 1934 in Rockford, Ill. She preceded him in death on Feb. 5, 1995.
Dutch had a milk route and owned his own welding shop in Lima Center for many years. He then worked for Crepaco, retiring in 1982 after 29 years. He was a 12-year member of the Whitewater National Guard and a longtime member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson. He was also an avid Brewers and Packers fan.
Dutch is survived by his children, Richard Traxler and Shirley Traxler, both of Janesville; sister, Bonnie (Ron) Grow of Granger, Ind.; and nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Marcus Traxler, sisters, Alice Foat, Bernice Pett, and Essie Kjendlie and a very special friend, Eleanore Volk.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Bethany Lutheran Church, in Fort Atkinson. Burial followed at Hillside Cemetery in Whitewater.
Memorials may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church or to Rainbow Hospice.
The family would like to thank Dr. Riggs and the entire staff at Fort Atkinson Medical Center and also all the nurses at Rainbow Hospice.
