Harold Andrew Einsiedel, 92, of Delavan, passed away Friday, May 24, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, on August 19, 1920, to George and Emma (Walda) Einsiedel.
During the Great Depression his family moved to Milwaukee. Harold graduated from West Division High School in Milwaukee in 1937 where he won all-city football honors. During World War II he served in the United States Army-Air Corps as a flight engineer and logged 1,300 combat hours in the North Africa-Mediterranean and China-Burma-India theatre of operations. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters and the Presidential Unit Citation. He married Wilma (Del) Jesmok on May 18, 1946 in Milwaukee. She preceeded him on Feb. 16, 2012.
He worked for General Foundries in Milwaukee until 1958 when he purchased a building in Sharon from Sta-Rite Industries, and began Sharon Foundry. He ran the foundry with much dedication until retirement in 2011. He served on the Board of Directors of Citizens Bank and M&I Bank. He was a lifelong member of American Legion Post 1 in Milwaukee. Harold served on the Delbrook Golf Commission and was instrumental in obtaining the watered fairways. His favorite hobby was playing golf at Delbrook Golf Course, where he enjoyed many rounds with his “cronies.” He also enjoyed deer hunting on the Apostle Islands.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary (Philip) Kilkenny; grandchildren Kristin Del Kilkenny and Kurt Andrew Kilkenny; great-grandchildren Mary Katharine (Katie), Charles (Charlie) and John Beckman, and Skye, Brooke, Morgan, Jacob and Emma Kilkenny; and great-great-grandchild Paisley.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, wife and brother Carl. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him, including Lydia and Bonnie, Del and Harold’s special long-time caregivers.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, at Monroe Funeral Home, 604 East Walworth Ave. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memory Gardens, 3045 Highway 67, Lake Geneva. Memorials may be made to Aurora VNA Hospice. Monroe Funeral Home is assisting the family.
