Daniel F. Ward, 61, of Elkhorn, died early Saturday morning March 16, 2013, at his home. Dan was born in Elkhorn, to the late Francis Hollister Holly and Joyce (Amann) Ward on Nov. 23, 1951. He graduated from Elkhorn High School with the Class of 1969 and then attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Dan was the owner of The Sports Page in Elkhorn and a longtime member of the Walworth County Tavern League, serving for eight years as its president. He was also a member of the Tavern League of Wisconsin serving for two years as a director on the state board and a member of the Walworth-Lakeland Elks Lodge #2201.
Dan is survived by his fiancée, Lee Holland Dewitt, and his sister, Nancy Ward, both of Elkhorn. He is further survived by a host of other relatives and many great friends and patrons who will miss his presence, his generosity and inimitable personality. He was further preceded in death by his grandparents.
A private Memorial Service with the Walworth-Lakeland Elks Lodge #2201 was held Monday March 25, 2013, at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory, 730 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn. Visitation was held Sunday March 24, 2013, from 1-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Dan’s name to VIP Services, 811 E. Geneva St., Elkhorn, WI 53121.
