Daniel D. Sargent, 73, Delavan, left his life on Earth March 9, 2013, at RidgeStone Village of Delavan after fighting years of dementia. He was born Feb. 16, 1940, to the late William and Blanche (Chamberlain) Sargent. He was in the first class of Delavan-Darien High school, where he ran track and played football. He married his high school sweetheart, Catherine (Kay) Bamford on Feb 22, 1958, in Delavan and they just recently celebrated 55 years of marriage. He worked at Sta-Rite Industries for 39 years and Generac Systems for four years, primarily as a manufacturing supervisor. Dan served his community in his early years as a member of the Delavan Township Fire and Rescue Squad, first aid instructor, Civil Defense Unit and baseball coach. While at Sta-Rite, he was on the board of directors for the credit union, president of the 5 Year Club, Quarter Century Club and the Golf League. He loved his basement filled with Packer pictures, hats and other memorabilia, complemented with NASCAR and Badger collections. He enjoyed more than 40 years of golfing and hunting. His dream job came after retirement when he worked as a ranger at Delbrook Golf Course. He is survived by his wife; children, Kelly (Dwayne) Binstock of Elkhorn, Valerie (Joe) Eagan of Janesville, Pamela (Robert) Ausen of Janesville and Daniel (Jackie) Sargent of Delavan; grandchildren, Steven (Angie) Binstock, Jennifer (Matt) Klopfer, Aaron (Ashley) Ausen, Richard and Tyler Parks, Craig and Kyle Ausen; great-grandchildren, Emily, Anna, Taylor, Patrick, Dylan, Madeline, Van, Brady and Caleb. He is also survived by sisters, Beverly (Oscar) Karcher and Patricia (Jim) Quinn; sisters-in-law, Betty (Robin) Sargent and Sue (Wayne) Holden; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was further preceded in death by his brother, Robin. Dan’s wishes were to have a celebration of remembrance and reminiscing. This will be held April 7 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Greenies, Delbrook Golf Course in Delavan. He also wished to have his brain be donated to science. Memorials may be made to A Day In Time in Lake Geneva or Delbrook Beautification Program in Delavan.
