Ruth Peterson, 81, of Janesville died Feb. 9 in her home. She was born March 5, 1931 to the late Carl and Irene (Kahl) Paulson in Delavan. She graduated from Delavan High School in 1949. She married Leon E. “Bud” Peterson on Sept. 7, 1952 in Delavan. He preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 1999. She was a longtime member of Jefferson Prairie Lutheran Church. She worked at Neighbors Nursing Home in Clinton, the Clinton High School and Bergamot’s Brass Works in Delavan. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching and seasonal decorating. She loved her family and cherished time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children, Phillip (Carol) of Beloit, Wendell of Janesville and Trudy (Mark) Swanson of Oregon, Ill.; grandchildren, Kaleena (Josh) Kirkpatrick, Courtney, Cory, Ross, Johnathan Swanson, Jason Swanson, Amanda (Brent) Robinson and Tawny Young; great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Savannah, Scarlett, Robert, Julieanna, Justin, Dominic, Malakye, Kwavion, James Brayden and Ahryanna and her brother, Robert Paulson.
She was further preceded in death by her brother, Jack Paulson; sister, Marion (George) Johnson and her grandson, Justin.
Memorial services were Feb. 15 at the Jefferson Prairie Lutheran Church in Poplar Grove, Ill. The Rev.Thomas G. Groth officiated. Inurnment followed in the Jefferson Prairie Cemetery.
