David E. Abell, 48, of Spearfish, N.D., and a past resident of Elkhorn, died at Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, S. D., on Dec. 2, 2012, after a long illness.
David was born Dec. 3, 1963, in Edgerton, Wis.; he was the son of Wallace and Claritta (Peck) Abell. David graduated from Elkhorn High School in 1982. He studied nursing at Gateway Technical College right after high school and worked for many years at Holton Manor Nursing Home in Elkhorn.
He then worked at NPC in Lake Geneva for a short time, and spent the remaining years in Elkhorn working at Elkhorn webpress.
David married his high school sweetheart, Donna Swan, on Nov. 5, 1983. They were together for 30 years.
He was always an avid hunter and fisherman and had a passion for the outdoors, wrestling and crime dramas.
David is survived by his parents Wallace and Claritta (Peck) Abell of Elkhorn, Wis.; his brother Dan (Jane) Abell of Delavan, Wis.; his son Mason (Jessica) Abell of Spearfish, S.D.; one granddaughter, Paige Abell of Spearfish; one niece, Stephanie Abell and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Dec. 17, 2012, at All Angels Episcopal Church in Spearfish, S.D. Fidler Isburg Funeral Chapel and Crematory Service in Spearfish is in charge of the arrangements. Graveside services in Wisconsin will be held at a later date.
