Charles C. Zinn, 94, found peace Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital.
Charles was born Oct. 2, 1918 in East Troy to his parents Robert J. and Myrtle May (nee Cables) Zinn.
Charles was a lifelong resident of East Troy, graduating from East Troy High School. He was also known to be a good lefty pitcher.
Charles served his country as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force while stationed in England during World War II.
After the military, he worked at Trent Tube as a welder. He was a member of the East Troy Fire and Rescue Department for more than 50 years. Charles was awarded the Firefighter of the Year award several times. He was also part owner of Zinn’s grocery with his father.
He is survived by his daughter, Nedra (Burks) Taylor; granddaughters, Carmen Gruner, Sarah Alexander and Alisha Taylor; six great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends also survive him.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wife “Jerry,” daughter, Deborah Drapen, grandson, Charles Taylor, and son-in-law, James B. Taylor.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 17 at 11 a.m. at Christian Life Church in Elkhorn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the East Troy Food Pantry appreciated.
