Max Robert Wells, 42, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at Don and Marilyn Anderson Agrace HospiceCare Center, Fitchburg. He was born Nov. 27, 1969, to Robert and Roberta (Lechowicz) Wells in Janesville. He graduated from Yankton High School in Yankton, S.D., and earned his bachelors in Mass Communications from Bemidji State University, Minn.
Throughout his life, Max was a friend to others, bringing kindness, a smile, and a positive outlook to everyone that he met. A steadfast Cubs fan, he shared his love of baseball and soccer by coaching little league, high school baseball, and youth soccer. For 14 years he broadcasted as Mad Max Wells and Austin Ryggs on the radio, making lasting impressions on his listeners in the Madison and Janesville markets.
Max faced his cancer diagnosis like he approached everything in his life; with an optimistic attitude and determination to live life to its fullest. He recently encouraged his friends and family to “live like you’ve never lived before, love a little sweeter, be more selfless than selfish, cherish the little, not sweat the big, find the beauty in all and laugh more”.
His “bride” Jan Bue-Wells of Milton and their much-loved children, Atalissa and Jax, survive Max. He is further survived by his mother, Roberta Wells; sister, Robin (Shunil) Joseph, both of Franklin, Tenn.; brother, Ben Wells of Minneapolis; mother-in-law, Nancee Bue; sister-in-law, Lori Bue, both of Evansville; nieces, Rachel and Leah Joseph; nephews, Zachary Joseph and Ean Mayer; “Grandpa Great” Howard Cufaude of Evansville and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Max was preceded in death by his father, Robert Wells; paternal grandparents, CJ Wells and Dorothy Wells; maternal grandparents, Walter and Marie Lechowicz; and father-in-law, Robert Bue.
Memorial services were held Nov. 5 at First Congregational Church, Milton. Rev. Herb Saunders officiated.
