Spencer F. “Pete” Chapman, age 83 of the Town of Troy passed away Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012 at home in the early morning with his wife at his side.
He was born on July 25, 1929 in Genesee. The son of the late Frank and Blanche (Farnham) Chapman.
On May 27, 1961 he was united in marriage to Barbara Sievers at Troy Center United Methodist Church.
Spencer worked for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources in the Fish Management Department for 32 years. He served in the United States Army at the Honolulu hospital as a medic and was honorably discharged in May of 1949.
Spencer (Pete) was a dedicated outdoorsmen and found peace in the outdoors. He had a season for every month, from morel hunting, berry picking to deer season.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; two children, Brenda Chapman of East Troy, and Brian (Cheryl) Chapman of East Troy; six grandchildren, Maxwell, Roger, Spencer, Crystal, Callista and Drew. He is further survived by his three sisters, Shirley (Doug) Lenicheck, Faye Chapman, Nancy (Mel) Dey; and sisters-in-law, Kathleen Chapman and Elaine Sievers.
He was preceded in death by his two brothers Wallace (Helen) Chapman and James Chapman.
The family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012 at the Haase-Lockwood & Assoc. Funeral Home, Mealy Chapel, 103 W. Eagle St., Eagle.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, Nov. 5 at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Little Prairie Cemetery.
