David G. Coates passed away on Sept. 26, 2012 at the age of 60. He is the loving husband of Linda (nee Rutkowski) Coates of 41 years; loving father of Kerry Thornton, Jesse (Jennifer) Coates, and Shaun (Katie) Coates; proud grandpa of Meghan, Madelyn, Delaney, Elliott, Addison, Aric, Eden, and Maggie; brother of Glenn (Susan) Coates, James Coates, Kevin Coates, and Brian (Tina) Coates. He is further survived by his mother Irene Coates, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
David was preceded in death by his father Glenn Coates, brother Duane Coates, and son-in-law Bill Thornton.
David was a dedicated journeyman ironworker for 42 years, and served as a business agent for the Ironworkers Union Local 8.
He was an avid hunter, a member of the Peshtigo Preserve, a Knights of Columbus member, and enjoyed spending time at “The Farm.” He enjoyed riding his Harley, golfing, traveling with good friends, and helping others. David will be greatly missed.
Services have been held. Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral Home assisted the family.
