Richard Eugene Dille, 73, of Elkhorn, died Aug. 16, 2012 at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee from complications after hip surgery.
He was born in Madison to the late Eugene Norman and Mary Evelyn (Hubbard) Dille. He grew up attending the Evansville United Methodist Church and graduated in 1957 from Evansville High School.
He served 12 years in the United States Air Force. After leaving the Air Force, he continued working in electronics. His last place of employment was at Motorola until his retirement in 2008.
He is survived by his wife Loverta (Birdie) Dille of Elkhorn; his children, Eugene (Dena) Dille of Crystal Lake, Ill., Keith Dille of Denver, Robert Dille of Rochester N.Y., Michael (Christy) Dille of Bartlett, Ill., and Leigh Ann (Carlos) Toste of Lexington, S.C.; nine grandchildren, Daniel, Michelle, Joshua, Stephanie, Nathan D., Andrew, Samantha, Julia and Nathan T.; sisters, Norma J. (David) Bly of Minnetonka, Minn., Mary E. (Bob) Dammen of Janesville, Sharon A. (Dean) Sarow of Evansville; and the mother of his sons, Ursula Dille of Brighton, Colo.
He was further preceded in death by his stepfather Ted Schaller and his daughter’s mother Dorothy Dille.
He was a great conversationalist with a knack for telling jokes. He spent his mornings drinking coffee, reading the newspaper and working the crossword puzzles. He loved feeding and watching the birds, playing euchre, golfing and attending his grandchildren’s activities. He will be missed by all that knew him.
A private memorial was held in Elkhorn on Aug. 25. His ashes will be buried next to his father’s grave in Avoka Cemetery in Oakfield.
