Louis Kohn, M.D., 98, died in West Hartford, Conn. on Sept. 5, 2012. Born in Milwaukee, Wis., he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Wiesner) Kohn.
He graduated from Marquette University and received his M.D. (doctor of medicine degree) from Marquette University Medical School.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, after which he practiced medicine in Waterford, and completed a surgical residency in Chicago.
He and his wife, a registered nurse, then operated a medical practice in East Troy for 20 years. They raised their daughters there and then moved to San Leandro, Calif., where they practiced medicine for another 10 years, made many friends, and enjoyed the West Coast.
Louis moved to West Hartford, Conn. in 1996, after the death of his wife. He will be best remembered for his sense of humor, intellectual curiosity, appreciation of music, dancing, travel, and great meals, talent for foreign languages, and stubborn attention to detail. He loved to laugh and make others laugh, and he loved to cry –especially to gypsy fiddle music.
Louis leaves his daughter, Ardith Crampton and son-in-law, Michael, of West Hartford, Conn., his daughter, Janice Kohn of West Hurley, N.Y.; grandchildren, Matthew Crampton, Emily Crampton LaPier and husband, Brendon, Leah Rossett, Ellie Rossett Fredericks and husband, Nick and Alex Rossett; cousins, Lillie Riskin, Donald Wiesner and wife, Lola; and nephew, Jerome Kohn and wife, Valorie.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel (Hornburg) Kohn and his brothers, Eugene and Joseph Kohn.

To the family of Dr. and Mrs. Kohn,
Your parents and grandparents will always be remembered and appreciated by our generation and the community of East Troy. In their memory and to honor them I will be making a $100.00 donation to the East Troy Area Community Foundation.
With deepest sympathy,
David and Mary Nicoson
Thank you so much for your note, and for the donation. Dad’s heart was always in East Troy. In fact, in his final days, he was having dreams about it. It is great to know that people remember him fondly.
