James D. Harkness, 85, died Aug. 27, 2012 at Heritage Manor in Naples, Fla.
He was born May 13, 1927 to the late Grove and Evelyn.
He graduated from Elkhorn Area High School in 1945, and served in the Navy afterwards. He was a master plumber working in the Elkhorn area with his dad and brother Dan.
His love of travel kept him “trucking” for many years. He loved playing cards, especially Sheepshead.
He retired to Florida many years ago.
He is survived by his stepson, Danny (Linda); his brother Dan (Ann); grandchildren Jaymie, Tommy, Terry, Dennis, Diane, Justin and Jimmy; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was further preceded in death by his daughter Holly Jean, his wife Barbara and his first wife Hazel.
Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens handled arrangements.
