Ruth C. Cook, 95, of Elkhorn, died Aug. 22, 2012 at Holton Manor Nursing Home in Elkhorn.
She was born April 15, 1917 in the Town of Sugar Creek to the late Albert and Alma (Oleson) Kittleson. She graduated from Delavan High School in 1934. In 1938, she graduated from Whitewater State Teachers College with a Bachelor of Science degree in business education. She taught business education in Plainfield and Milwaukee.
On April 13, 1946 she married Howard R. Cook in Millard. He died Dec. 31, 2000.
Ruth started playing organ at church at age 12 and continued to be a church organist for more than 80 years. She worked as a bookkeeper for Millard Feed Mill for more than 14 years. After that she traveled the world with Howard as he hunted specimens for his bird collection.
She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Mary Clowes of Beloit and Connie Cook of Elkhorn; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special neighbors, Eileen (Craig) Guthrie of Elkhorn; and a host of church members and friends.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, at Millard Community Covenant Church, N6713 County Road O, Elkhorn, with Rev. Lyle Heinitz officiating. Burial will be at Millard Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
