ANN M. HOPKINS

Ann M. Hopkins (Annie, Miss Ann), 88, of Hot Springs Village died Aug. 14, 2012 while at home with her family.

Ann was born Aug. 29, 1923 in Philadelphia, Pa. to Benjamin Harrison Simpson and Hilda Yerkes Plowman.

She spent her childhood in Cape May Court House, N.J. and graduated from Middle Township High.

After graduating from high school, she moved back to Philadelphia and worked for Army Ordinance where she met Roy Hopkins, a sailor from Wisconsin. They were married on Nov. 17, 1946.

Ann worked side-by-side with Roy for 17 years running their country store in Troy Center. Later they moved to East Troy, where she was the junior high and high school secretary.

She moved to Hot Springs Village, Ark. in 1974. She worked for over 20 years at the DeSoto Club as office manager and club hostess.

Ann loved working with people. Her prized possession was Roy and her family. Her greatest desire was to be able to remain in their home, which she was able to do with the help of friends, neighbors, and caregivers.

She is survived by two daughters, Carol (Kevin) Ormond of Utah and Colleen Lewis of Illinois; eight grandchildren, Nate (Ann) Ormond of Colorado; Tim (Janica) Ormond, Mark (Lindsey) Ormond, Andrew (Jordan) Ormond, all of Utah; Natalie (Troy) Schemenauer of Washington; Nikole (Eric) Brundick of Maryland; Emily (Jessie) Miller of Washington; Andrea (Kory) Kidd of Oregon; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 20 with funeral service starting at 11 a.m. at CedarVale Funeral Home in Hot Springs Village, Ark.

In lieu of flowers, friends and family are asked to share a written remembrance of Ann. Donations may be made to the Village United Methodist Church or to a charity of your choice.
