Agreement made between city, Skinny Lab for stationless bikes

The city has entered an agreement with a bike-sharing company just as the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater did on its campus.
The agreement with Skinny Labs was approved at the March 6 Common Council meeting.
Skinny Labs, also known as Spin, allows people to use bikes in a community by unlocking a bike, taking it off a rack and returning it when they are done. The bikes can be used via a subscription service or payment by the hour or half-hour.
Public Works Director Brad Marquardt said UW-Whitewater initiated the agreement, but the service will be available throughout the city.
“They’re looking at having this on campus as a stationless bike system, meaning that you can rent a bike, use it wherever and basically leave it at their destination and another person can pick it up,” Marquardt said. “They can take it where they want and leave it at their destination.”
