Son of former sheriff known as kind, gentle caretaker

Alan Johnson’s mother hung her head and sobbed as a judge sentenced her son to 25 years in prison on Jan. 12 for killing his brother-in-law in Whitewater in 2016.
On the opposite side of the courtroom sat her daughter Kimberly Myskewicz, who pleaded for the maximum sentence for her brother – he faced up to 65 years – and called him a stranger.
Myskewicz was the first to address the court at Friday’s sentencing hearing for Johnson, 32, of Lima Center, who was convicted by a jury Nov. 7 of first-degree reckless homicide in the October 2016 shooting death of Ken Myskewicz in his Whitewater home. She described her husband as her best friend and the love of her life since she was 16 years old.
“A stranger came into my home and took him away,” she said.
Kimberly Myskewicz said she referred to her brother as a stranger because the Alan Johnson who shot her naked, unarmed husband in his own home in the middle of the night is not the same Alan Johnson who spent summers with and took vacations with her family.
“I do not know who this person is,” she said.
