Freeze Fest this weekend

Whitewater’s annual event involving chili, proceeds to the Special Olympics and a dip in very cold water is this weekend.

That event, Freeze Fest, is this Saturday, Feb. 11. It will be at Cravath Lakefront Park, 341 S. Fremont Street.

There will be a warming tent for the cook-off with up to 12 different types of chili to sample for $5. People may donate to the Special Olympics and Seniors in the Park. It will be from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

There will also be an educational session on snow dogs at the Irvin L. Young Memorial Library, 431 W. Center St., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Polar Plunge will be from noon to 3 p.m.

The Whitewater Aquatic Center will have a movie showing from 4 to 6 p.m. Half of the daily fee will go to the Special Olympics.
