After having to reschedule its annual madrigal dinner, the Whitewater High School Music Masters presented the vocal ensemble event, the 21st time the dinner took place at the Whitewater Legion.

“This event gave me the opportunity to see the hard work being done by the WHS students preparing for the madrigal dinner,” Praveen Parboteeah said after the Jan. 14 event. “They all performed beautifully and we thoroughly enjoyed the event. The program was also timely, given the Christmas festivities.  It is testament to the excellent work being done by the music program supported by the Whitewater Unified School District.”

The members of the Music Masters, directed by Karen Tordera, include Allisan Barrett, Mitch Dalzin, Alec Holt, Cally Julson, Jimmy King, Angie McKelvey, Alisha Parboteeah, Gabe Schemell, Caty Strait, Lydia Wiley Deal and Remi VanDaele.

The saxophone trio of Haley Dieter, Miriam Navejas and Bashkim Veliu played Christmas carols and other selections as the dinner guests arrived. Lauren Harkness joined with them in serving the meal.

Weston Lema was the “Crier” for the performance and Jacob Zuehlke played trumpet and tambourine.

Mary and Bill Sydow, a retired Whitewater Middle School teacher, helped out again, as they have for many years, with decorations, set-up and the wassail table.

Originally scheduled for Dec. 17, the holiday event was postponed due to weather conditions.
