Naked man flees from crashed car, tries to rape woman

An initial appearance was scheduled for Nov. 7 for a South Milwaukee man who allegedly crashed a stolen car in Whitewater then ran naked from the scene and tried to rape a woman.

Chibiebele Praises Ozodi, 20, was charged Oct. 24 in Walworth County Circuit Court with attempted second-degree sexual assault, operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent and disorderly conduct.

According to the criminal complaint, Ozodi crashed a stolen black Mitsubishi into a tree on Starin Road in Whitewater at about 5:40 p.m. Oct. 4, then got out of the car naked and ran north, punching nearby parked cars.

Ozodi was spotted running near the intramural athletic fields on the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater campus. An officer approached a group of people gathered near apartments on Harmony Lane, and witnesses in the group pointed to Ozodi, now wearing shorts and a T-shirt, as the suspect.

A woman said she saw Ozodi naked and walking between cars, attempting to open car doors, in the parking lot near the apartments, according to the complaint. The woman said she approached Ozodi, provided him with shorts and a T-shirt and asked him what was wrong. She said Ozodi told her he was “tripping on acid” and that he was going to have sex with her right now, according to the complaint. The woman said Ozodi pushed her down on to her back and tried to put his body on top of her, but another man pulled Ozodi off her, according to the complaint.

When Ozodi saw the officer, he ran away, and the officer chased him in a squad car onto the intramural field. Ozodi stopped near the middle of the field, pulled his pants down and began to masturbate, according to the complaint. The officer drew his Taser and ordered Ozodi to lie on the ground, and he complied.

Ozodi was taken to Fort Memorial Hospital in Fort Atkinson where he told officers he had taken two tablets of “acid.” At the hospital, he allegedly told a nurse in crude language to perform oral sex on him and said, “What do I have to do to get (oral sex) in here?” and “There is a baby coming out of me,” according to the complaint.

A couple with whom Ozodi frequently stays in Whitewater told police their Mitsubishi was gone, and Ozodi did not have permission to drive it, according to the complaint.
