Local farm to table event set for Oct. 13

A farm to table event to support the Whitewater City Market will be held 5 to 8 p.m., Oct. 13 at Cravath Lakefront Park in Whitewater.

“Are you passionate about where your food comes from? Have you wanted to learn more about the farmers who produce your food? Do you love farmers markets? We have the event for you. Downtown Whitewater, Inc. is hosting its very first farm to table event to celebrate the farmers in our area, and the vendors who sell at our farmers market,” a press release about the event stated.

Chef Tyler Sailsbery, executive chef and owner of The Black Sheep and Casual Joe’s, both farm to table style restaurants located in Whitewater will be working with donations from local farmers to produce a unique dining experience that celebrates the hard work of the farmers in our area.

Sailsbery will explain each dish and it’s preparation at the dinner. Local farmers will also have the opportunity to share their stories about the effort that was put into growing and producing the items that make up the meal.

Drinks and appetizers will begin at 5:30 p.m.; dinner will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $35 per person and are available for purchase through the Downtown Whitewater, Inc. website, downtownwhitewater.com or at the Discover Whitewater Office, 150 W. Main St. in Whitewater. A silent auction of local products will accompany the meal.

All proceeds from the dinner will support the efforts of the Whitewater City Market, an event produced by Downtown Whitewater, Inc.
