Nathan Jaeger, Business Manager for the Whitewater Unified School District, presented information on the district’s $23.5 million Facilities Referendum proposal L at last week’s Johnstown’s Town Board meeting. The referendum will be on the Nov. 8 ballot.

“The proposed projects will address district-wide safety and security improvements, ADA compliance updates, maintenance and infrastructure upgrades, and renovation of instructional spaces including a high school physical education expansion and gymnasium/multi-purpose addition at Lincoln Elementary (LINCS),” an informational document shared at the meeting stated.

“The estimated maximum property tax increase for the proposed facilities referendum is $18 annually, or $1.50 monthly, for each $100,000 of property value. This plan considers the impact of current facilities needs and future operational needs while minimizing change to the school portion of the mill rate,” it further stated.

On Wednesday, Oct. 12, a Referendum Open House will be held 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Lincoln Elementary School.
