End-of-Life preparedness workshop offered

“They had been married for three years. Her husband, 53, died beside her in bed. She knew nothing of their finances, did not know his funeral wishes, had no idea where the paperwork would be and did not know they owned three condos,” a press release about an upcoming workshop states.

A 258-page workbook guide called “And Then There was One” was written by Charlotte Fox to help people avoid the struggles she had. It includes more than 70 checklists and forms providing a road map through the planning process. This guide will ease the transition for your survivors by informing them of your wishes and promoting harmony in the family after your passing.

“The greatest gift we can leave our family is our preparation. You would not plan a wedding in three days but that often happens in the event of a funeral,” the release states.

A 4-hour workshop, broken into two-hour segments on two different dates, with speakers scheduled to include: hospice and funeral trust representatives and a lawyer. There will be time for attendees to ask questions and the workshop is being offered in the evenings to allow those who work to attend.

The workshop will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesdays, Sept. 13 (Part 1) and Sept. 20 (Part 2) at Irvin L. Young Memorial Library, 431 W. Center St., Whitewater.

The workbook is optional at a cost of $29.95 but purchasing it is not required. Registration for the workshop is requested and can be made by calling the library at (262) 473-0530.
