Children are invited to take part in a unique opportunity for hands-on learning and up-close encounters while learning about birds of prey and their role in the environment in an upcoming camp.
Hoo’s Woods Raptor Center, located outside of Milton, will host two separate Raptor Day Camps for Kids this summer. The camps are open to kids ages 8 to 14 on Wednesday, June 29 or Tuesday, July 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. both events.
The camp will be safe (children will not be handling live birds) and aim to instill a wonder of the outdoors in children in a fun and educational manner.
At the camp, the goal is for kids to:
- Learn about wildlife rescue, rehab and habitat;
- Make crafts that they can take home;
- Get a tour of the Hoo’s Wood Raptor Center facility;
- Meet the raptor gang;
- Be treated to a lunch
- Learn about the ancient sport of falconry and participate in a telemetry hunt.
Class size is limited and registration is required. The cost is $35 per child and is tax deductible. To register or for more information contact Dianne Moller at (608) 883-2795 or falco5@ticon.net.
