The Whitewater Police Department will host the 4th Annual Whitewater K9 5K/10K run/walk on Saturday, June 4, an event that allows participants to run/walk with their dog (must be on a leash.)
The race will start at the Cravath Lakefront Park, 341 S. Fremont St., in Whitewater. Registration will be open from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. The kiddie 1-mile sprint (ages 1 through 12) will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K and 10K walk/run events will begin at 9 a.m.
The costs to participate are: $10 for the kiddie 1-mile sprint, $15 per person (as part of a team of three or more) and $20 (individual) for the 5K walk/run, and $20 per person (team) and $25 (individual) for the 10K walk/run. Chip timing will be provided by Absolute Race Timing.
The top three finishers in multiple age categories will receive a race medal and participants will receive a Performance Cotton t-shirt, donated by Whitewater Manufacturing while supplies last (provided in order of registration including online.)
There were approximately 200 race participants with 60 dogs at last year’s event. The Whitewater PD hopes to see an increase at Saturday’s event which helps fund the department’s K9 unit.
Officer Joe Matteson and K9 officer Boomer will be on hand at the race to cheer on the race participants and their canine companions.
