The National Association of Academic Advisors recently selected the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater as recipient of the 2016 Model Practice Award for Student-Athlete Development for Athletics.
The Warhawk Leadership Academy, a comprehensive student-athlete leadership development program launched last September, will be honored by N4A during a luncheon at the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics Convention in Dallas this summer. N4A is a division of NACDA.
Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Amy Edmonds, Director of Student-Athlete Engagement Kristina Navarro, WLA intern Christine Panella and WLA president and men’s soccer student-athlete Michael Salm will give a presentation on the Academy to convention attendees at the event on June 11.
The N4A Model Practice Award is given annually to the university or college that displays best practices in its academic and/or student-athlete development programming for student-athletes. Programming includes, but is not limited to, academic advising, academic integrity, disability services, target populations, learning specialists, tutoring, study hall/table, student-athlete affairs, life skills and career preparation.
Criteria for the award include innovativeness and use of creativity, recognizable, effective and measurable results and applicability/replicability of the best practice.
