Electronics recycling firm DP Recycling, of Elkhorn, has plans to build a $12.5 million facility in Whitewater that company officials say will create 100 new jobs.
The developer’s agreement was jointly announced Wednesday by the firm and the City of Whitewater.
See the March 3 edition of the Whitewater Register for an in-depth story on the agreement.
Here’s the news release issued by the City of Whitewater:
“DP Electronic Recycling Inc. entered into a Development Agreement with the City of
Whitewater for the construction of a new state of the art recycling complex to be located in
Whitewater. The new facility, valued at over $12,500,000 will create over 100 new positions working
multiple shifts.
“With the world wide surplus of over 1 billion pounds of CRT tubes in storage that they know
about, this new technology is designed to reuse these discarded CRT tubes, by encapsulating the
materials into an environmentally safe consumer grade product. These new products will not only
help to reduce the massive stockpile of discarded CRT glass, but they will also help to reduce the
amount getting sent to hazardous landfills around the world.
“DP will also be bringing in new shredding technology from Germany to utilize a more efficient
and safe process for electronic shredding and sorting of commodities.
“Dale Helgeson, President and CEO of DP Electronic Recycling, Inc. stated “This new state of the
art facility will help to reduce a large waste stream that currently is not being addressed, and DP is not
stopping there. As technology continues to grow, DP will continue to bring innovative solutions to
address recycling problems that have no solutions.”
“Community Development Authority Chairperson Jeffery Knight added, “We have been
working with DP Electronic Recycling for a number of years while they worked through the regulatory
process to secure financing. This project is truly an example of an individual demonstrating an
entrepreneurial spirit at its best. The City of Whitewater is extremely pleased that Dale has chosen
Whitewater for their new plant and especially pleased that this is will be their world headquarters.”
“Construction of the new facility will begin in the spring of 2016. The company plans to be fully
operational with 18 months after they break ground.”
