Girls basketball game leads to cancellation of school board candidate forum
The League of Women Voters–Whitewater Area will host a candidate forum Saturday, March 7 in the Whitewater City Hall Council Chambers.
A forum for Whitewater Common Council candidates will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. All registered candidates have been invited and include: Craig Stauffer and Patrick Wellnitz (AD1), Christopher Grady and Kenneth Kienbaum (AD3), Stephanie Abbott (AD5), and Patrick Singer (At Large).
Two forums were initially scheduled, but a win by the Whitewater High School girls basketball team on Thursday night led to the second forum, of Whitewater Unified School District Board candidates at 1 p.m. Saturday, being canceled on Friday. The Whippets won over Brodhead Thursday night, advancing to the sectional final against Dodgeville at 1 p.m. Saturday in Middleton. The forum for school board candidates will be rescheduled according to a press release from the LWV.
Questions for the candidates will be drawn from the audience during the forums; the league encourages attendance by community members.
Candidate questionnaires will be posted to the league’s website on Monday, March 9.
