Openings available on several city committees

The City of Whitewater invites community members to continue to make Whitewater an “exceptional community in which to live, work and play in,” according to a recent press release from City Clerk Michelle Smith.

Below is a list of the committees with openings, a description and information on meetings:

Board of zoning appeals

Hear requests from property owners for variance to the Zoning Code. Alternate and regular positions open. Meets the fourth Thursday of a month if there is a case.

Cable TV committee

Oversee local cable television operation. Meet as needed by arrangement with board members.

Disability rights

Hear complaints filed by those believing disability rights have been compromised. Meet as needed.

Ethics committee

(Alternate position) Meet to hear and make recommendation regarding local government ethics complaints. Meet as needed.

Parks and recreation

(Alternate member) Oversee Parks and Recreation programs and promote recreational opportunities within the City.

Plan and architectural review committee

Review plans for development in the city and hears requests for conditional use permits. Meets the second Monday night of each month.

Urban forestry

Provides input relating to Urban Forestry matters and oversees Bird City USA designation. Meets monthly.

 

How to apply

Citizens interested in seats on the boards and committees listed above are asked to complete a Citizen Interest form, which can be obtained from the City Clerk or from the City’s website under Clerk’s Department (www.whitewater-wi.gov).

Interest forms must be returned to: City Clerk, P.O. Box 178, Whitewater, Wisconsin 53190 by Wednesday, Dec. 3.
