On Nov. 4, Whitewater Unified School District voters will be asked to vote on a referendum to exceed the state imposed revenue limit and the League of Women Voters will host a State of Whitewater’s Unified School District discussion next week.
The referendum is a four-year, nonrecurring referendum for $1.2 million per year. The referendum renewal will allow the district to:
• Maintain targeted elementary class sizes in all three elementary buildings;
• Protect student support services;
• Continue to offer comprehensive instructional programs;
• Maintain co-curricular programs;
• Replace and update aging technology and infrastructure;
• Address facility maintenance needs to ensure a safe and appropriate learning environment for students.
The League of Women Voters will sponsor a discussion of the referendum that local voters are encouraged to attend.
On Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Whitewater City Council Chambers, Eric Runez, Superintendent of WUSD, and Nathan Jaeger, the Business Manager for the district, will be the guest speakers that evening. The meeting is open to the public who are encouraged to attend by representatives of the LWV while also making a point to vote on Nov. 4.
For more information on the referendum voters should contact: Eric Runez at (262) 472-8700 or erunez@wwusd.org or Nathan Jaeger at (262) 472-8705 or njaeger@wwusd.org.
