Last week, residents of Fairhaven Senior Services, Whitewater, were treated to a re-creation of the supper served aboard the Titanic on the fateful evening of its sinking.
Working from a copy of that evening’s original menu, Fairhaven Chef Lloyd Brehm prepared a five-course meal that included entrees such as: Oysters a la Russe, fresh Atlantic salmon poached in wine with a lemon butter sauce, petit tenderloin topped with foie gras, artichoke hearts and black truffle oil and roast duckling breast with an apple liqueur glaze.
Cream of barley soup and a variety of side dishes accompanied the entrees as well as a dessert of Waldorf Pudding and chocolate éclairs with French vanilla bean ice cream.
The meal served aboard the Titanic the night it sank included a total of 10 courses. According to Fairhaven officials, “the elegantly decorated dining room was surpassed only by those in attendance.”
