The Association of Women in Agriculture (AWA) recognized special award winners for their outstanding service and contribution to the organization including Kylene Cook Anderson of Whitewater.
Anderson, a Fort Atkinson native and current Whitewater resident, received the 2014 Friend of AWA Award, awarded to a person who has contributed significant time and resources to the AWA active chapter during the past year.
A 2002 graduate with degrees in Dairy Science and Agricultural Journalism, Anderson is AWA’s current financial management chair and has served as AWA treasurer and the education committee co-chair. She manages the organization’s finances and assets while helping with rent management to provide affordable housing for student members. Her actions, according to a press release from the association, have kept AWA financially stable while the organization makes final payments on its house this year.
Anderson is currently an account manager at Filament Marketing and volunteers with the 4-H dairy youth in Jefferson County, coaching the Jefferson County Dairy Judging Team. She lives in Whitewater with her husband, Mark, and two children, Isabelle and Kieffer.
The Association of Women in Agriculture, headquartered on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, is a professional, service and social organization that promotes agriculture and the development of women who serve the agricultural industry.
