When the Whitewater Farmers Market opens April 26 it will be the 23nd anniversary of this popular market serving Whitewater and the surrounding area.
The market will once again be located at the Whitewater Winchester True Value Hardware parking lot on the west side of Whitewater and will be open Saturdays, April 26 through Nov. 21 from 8 a.m. until vendors sell out which is generally around noon.
The market supports the Buy Local Program and also certified to accept WIC and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) checks.
Customers will find a wide variety of top quality, locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables including some organically grown. Other items for sale will include: fresh, homemade preserves and jams, homemade baked goods, honey, fresh eggs, cheese, homemade soap, arts and crafts, jewelry and plants.
By shopping at the Whitewater Farmers Market consumers have the opportunity to buy locally grown farm fresh produce when in season at reasonable prices. The plus side is the face-to-face contact with the vendors, and the ability to buy in bulk for freezing or canning purposes.
