The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater/Community Optimist Club has rescheduled the annual Easter Egg Hunt for Saturday, April 19. A press release that included an apology from the club said inclement weather and a miscommunication caused the cancellation of last weekend’s event.
Plans are to hold the 12th annual event beginning at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 19 outside near the circle drive at Whitewater Middle School, 401 S. Elizabeth St., weather permitting. Should weather conditions create an issue again, the event will be moved inside the school near the MPR and gymnasium.
There will be a short invocation at the beginning of the event with the arrival of the Easter Bunny and McGruff the Crime Dog aboard a City of Whitewater fire truck before the egg hunt will begin. Children through fifth grade are welcome to attend and will be grouped as follows: 2 years old and under; ages 3-4; Kindergarten-first grade; second-third grades, and; fourth-fifth grades.
The event is free and open to all Whitewater Unified School District elementary children. A post will be made to the Optimist Blog at blogs.uww.edu/uwwcommunityoptimist/ with the latest information on the event. The decision to move indoors will be made by 10 a.m. the day of the event.
