• UW-Whitewater Tri Beta Blood Drive. Wednesday, Feb. 26 from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. at UW-Whitewater University Center, 420 N. Prairie St. in the Esker Bldg. Contact Nathan P. Johnson at (608) 449-6837. Includes meal and Culver’s coupon for donors.
Donors can also schedule an appointment by calling 1-877-BE-A-HERO (1-877-232-4376), by visiting www.bcw.edu or m.bcw.edu on their mobile device. Appointments are preferred to ensure a quick and convenient donation, but walk-in donors are also welcome.
While donors of all blood types can make a life-saving impact, there is an especially great need for O negative, A negative and B negative donors. O negative blood is of critical importance, as it is the universal donor and the blood type given to newborn babies and people in emergency situations.
Anyone 16 or older who is in general good health and meets eligibility requirements is encouraged to donate blood. Parental consent is required for 16-year-olds to donate. The entire process takes about an hour. Donors should bring a photo ID that includes birth date.
