More than 30 State and Honorable Mention Awards were announced at the closing of the Wisconsin Regional Art Program Exhibit (WRAP) at the Whitewater Arts Alliance’s Cultural Arts Center in January.

The State award winners will exhibit their winning pieces at the State WRAP show in Wausau at the Center for Visual Arts Aug. 8 to Sept. 27.

The juror and featured guest artist at the Whitewater Arts Alliance’s WRAP show was Nancy Cox, a professional fine artist from rural Black Earth. Cox reviewed more than 115 pieces for the show, which featured a variety of artists from Wisconsin who exhibited art in a variety of media including 3 D and photography.

As part of her presentation, Cox addressed the value of keeping in mind what artists want to communicate to the viewer, and she reminded artists that the title of the work should support the intention for the work. Her workshop was “Glass:  Technique for a Challenging Subject Matter.”  She said art is her vocation, life and passion.

Joyce Follis, coordinator of the show, said, “The judge had so many great art pieces to choose from.  We have many talented artists in Wisconsin, and I know it was not easy to judge all of these wonderful pieces.”
